    Hello,
I am a first time visitor and absolutely love your creative use of budget supplies! I am so ready to make my own pvc bookcase like yours, but wanted to make sure that the construction can actually hold a shelf full of books?! Can you comment on the shelf’s overall strength? Thanks so much!

      Heidi,
Thanks so much for reading. As for the integrity of the shelves, I have caught my two sons scaling the shelves on several occasions, and there has yet to be any injuries. ( Knock on wood) So long as you don’t have long spans of pvc you will be fine. If you are planning on setting the entire series of encyclopedia Britannica I would maybe consider the next size up in PVC (They come in several widths). But in all honesty, I have had no problems with mine, but I would rather err on the side of caution just in case. Hope that helps ad thanks for your comment!

Meet Corey

Hi everyone, my name is Corey, and I have a problem. I can’t leave well enough alone… The best therapy usually involves a variety of power tools. So, in the few “spare” moments I am not entertaining my two beautiful, rambunctious, boys, I can typically be found hunched over a sewing machine and/or covered in sawdust. All in the efforts to create a perfect balance of aesthetics and practicality in our home.
